MuTect2 Beta-version Duration

Is there an estimation for how much longer MuTect2 will be in beta mode (and therefore not yet recommended for production)? Thanks!

Hi @srhilz, we expect to move Mutect2 out of beta status as part of the GATK 4.0 release later this summer. In the meantime however, I can tell you that we're very happy with the version of Mutect2 that is included in the current GATK4 (beta release coming by the end of this week). In our validations it performs better than either Mutect 1 or the GATK 3 version of Mutect2, and we plan to run it in production for customers. Frankly at this point the beta status has more to do with the fluidity of the situation in GATK4 as we prepare for general release (meaning argument names and syntax may still change quite a bit) than with any concerns about the analysis tool itself.
