How do I make a workspace public?
I see the "Publicly Readable?" check box in my method after clicking the share icon, but i don't see the check box for a workspace I created. How do i make my workspace public?

Currently, making a workspace public requires a system admin. I am working with one to make your workspace public. We will also be discussing if we can make this easier going forward, as publicizing workflows shouldn't require system admin intervention each and every time.

@tfarrell I just double-checked with the team and it looks like in addition to being owner of the workspace, you also have to have admin privileges to make a workspace public - the feature has not yet been implemented in FireCloud. Sorry for my incomplete response earlier!

Your workspace is now public!
One idea for making this easier is to add a "public" group, which a workspace admin could then add to a space via the Share tab.
Was this “make workspace public” feature yet implemented in FireCloud? I’m also looking to make a workspace publicly accessible.
@tfarrell - Are you the owner of the workspace? If so you should be able to make it public.
@SChaluvadi, I am the owner of the workspace, but I don't see any way to make the workspace public through the FireCloud portal (i.e. in the workspace's summary tab). Is this something that needs to be done through the API? I've granted read access to the group "all_broad_users" but that seems different from making it public.

@tfarrell Since we haven't heard from you, this ticket will now be closed but as always, feel free to reach out again with any follow-up questions!
Hi @SChaluvadi, so is it at all possible for a non-admin to get their workspace made public on FireCloud?
@tfarrell Yes! If you would like your workspace made public you can share your workspace name and billing project and we can have someone on the team make it public for you.
Hi @SChaluvadi, great! The workspace name is "broad-malaria-firecloud/pasec" and the billing account is "broad-malaria-firecloud". Thanks!
@tfarrell Your workspace should now be public! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
@SChaluvadi I would like to make "broad-firecloud-dsde-methods/Model_Segments_PostProcessing_Home" a public workspace (there are only method configurations in there). Do I still need to ask here?
@LeeTL1220
This is a great place to ask - I will get back to you with details on what information we would need you to provide in order to evaluate the workspace being made public!
@SChaluvadi I am interested in making
aryee-lab/dna-methylation
workspace public. Please let me know what you need from me in order to do it. Thank you!@DivyKangeyan I will get back to you soon!
@DivyKangeyan Can I get the workspace shared with [email protected] OR can you provide the id of the workspace (the part that comes after
fc-
in the bucket name)?@SChaluvadi I have shared the workspace with [email protected]
Also the workspace id is
fc-6eb91be1-054c-4af6-81d3-1b81d1a94ce6
Workspaces need to be shared with user as owner to make it public.
