convenience button for setting outputs in a method configuration

esalinasesalinas BroadMember, Broadie ✭✭✭

When defining the method config's outputs, I type into each box an expression ("this.Report" for example). This is a data-entry process.

Could there be a convenience button (perhaps called something like "Auto-Define Outputs") which upon being clicked would simply automatially propogate the named outputs in the WDL to have the same names but for the root entity.type? For example (MyWorkflow.MyTask.Report gets this.MyWorkflow.MyTask.Report)?

While there might be some convenience in doing this, I'm concerned about having attribute names mirroring the WDL output parameters. The data model is intended to be somewhat independent of the tools, the purpose of the method configuration is to provide the binding of data model attribute names to workflow parameters (both input and output). Let's see if we get any requests by other users for this capability before adding it to our product feature backlog. Thanks!
